Maharashtra: Barbaric attack on Hindu sadhus, 6 arrested
In Maharashtra, once again, Hindu sadhus have come under barbaric attack. 4 sadhus of Uttar Pradesh were brutally assaulted on the false information that they were child thieves in Lavange village of Jat taluk of Sangli district.
After the video of the attack went viral, the police clarified. It is said that these four sadhus were residents of Uttar Pradesh and were on their way to Pandharpur for the darshan of Lord Vithala.
6 accused have been arrested. Investigation is on and more accused will be arrested soon, police officer Dixit Gedam told ANI.
According to the police, the sadhus were staying at a temple in the village on Monday. The next day when they resumed his journey, they asked a boy for directions. At this time, it is said that someone raised a ruckus that they were child thieves and people attacked.
After receiving the information, Ummadi police rushed to the spot and treated the injured sadhus. But the sadhus left without filing a complaint and the police did not take any action against the attackers as they did not receive a written complaint. After the video went viral, the district SP also said to investigate after giving clarification.
Finally, the police registered the offense on suo moto cognizance.
